Projects
Young Gardeners*
This group works with children ages three to twelve years old. They meet four days a year and participate in activities which will help them to see beauty, create beauty, and preserve beauty through the study of horticulture, conservation, nature study, and art with flowers. Meeting months are September, October, February (Arbor Day), and March.
Anti-Litter Campaign**
Work together with the Chamber of Commerce to clean up our town for a week. We will be assigned certain areas of Greenwood – this is a project in which all members will help. The week is sometime in October.
Arbor Day Tree Planting*
Objective is to promote tree planting activities during the week of Arbor Day. Members of this committee will plant trees in a designated area of Greenwood. Young Gardeners will help with this. Arbor Day is February 13, 2009.
FUNDRAISER - River to the Rails*
All members will participate in some kind of way. We plan to have a booth set up in which children can participate in a fun craft related to gardening for a small price. We also plan to sell children’s t-shirts.
Plant Exchange*
At the last meeting in May, all members will bringing various types of horticulture to exchange.
Landscape for Humanity**
The members of Delta Garden Club will enhance our commitment to our community by creating landscape for a Habitat For Humanity house. Through our landscaping efforts, we hope to teach conversation and environment concerns in our area.
Greenwood Farmers’ Market**
All members participate one Saturday morning of their choice during the months of May – October. Two members needed each Saturday during this time to help sell t-shirts or any of the booths that need help.
